The Neighbor's Dog

Dogsitting.

One of those things you do as a favor, hoping that you'll have it returned when necessary.

Until you have the borrowed dog so often it feels like you're getting your own dog back after a brief stay with someone down the street.

Which leads to affection for that dog. You take her camping when her master is out out of town. You take her hiking. You buy her the good food because she loves it so much.

Her master is a fixture in your house, with her as his shadow. Sometimes she wanders over all by herself. You feed her. The good food. Because she loves it so much.

She's blind. Deaf. And somewhere north of 14 years old. The time will come. You dread it.

Her master will be devastated. So will you.

R.I.P., Kelty.

A Blog Hoppers toast

Aaaaaah. A reunion. License to give goofy hugs and sloppy kisses to old (and new) friends. And since I've been busted for FUI* more than a few times, I'm all over the opportunity to drag Twitter into it as well.

I'm not sure there's anything better than pickled blogging.
